Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant in St Helens to work with primary pupils with SEMH needs from September. The role is long-term with potential to become permanent for the right candidate, and offers competitive PAYE pay and ongoing CPD opportunities.

You will support pupils displaying challenging behaviour, help them access learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive relationships within a supportive staff team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour within an education, care or youth work setting.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour management.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive staff team.
• Genuine passion for helping children achieve positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils who require emotional and behavioural support to access learning.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive relationships while managing challenging behaviour.
• Work closely with the class team to promote a nurturing learning environment.
