Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in a Primary & Secondary SEMH provision in Blackburn. The role is temporary to permanent, starting September 2026, and hours are term-time only.

You will support pupils with SEMH needs and work closely with staff to create a safe, nurturing environment that promotes emotional regulation and learning progress. The ideal candidate will have experience with SEMH/SEND, trauma-informed practice, and excellent communication

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Foster positive relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
• Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours with trauma-informed approaches.
• Assist with behaviour support, social skills development, and emotional literacy.
• Support teaching and learning activities across the curriculum and maintain pupil progress records.
