Job summary

Engage Education is seeking a Positive Behaviour Assistant to join an all-through school in Worthing, supporting pupils with SEMH needs across both primary and secondary settings.

You will work flexibly across age groups, build positive relationships, use de-escalation techniques, and help pupils stay engaged in learning. Training will be provided and this is a full-time, long-term role with a view to becoming permanent for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour is advantageous.
• Ability to build rapport and support pupils through emotional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across primary and secondary settings with SEMH needs.
• Work flexibly across different age groups.
• Build positive relationships and remain a calm role model.
• Apply de-escalation strategies to distressed pupils.
• Support behaviour and keep learners engaged in lessons.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to minimise disruption.
• Provide feedback on pupil engagement and progress.
• Remain adaptable in a specialist environment.
• Work full-time, 8:15am – 3:30pm.
