Job summary

Academics is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant in Reading to support a secondary SEMH school and help students achieve emotional and behavioural progress. The role suits graduates in psychology or related fields aiming to work in education, therapy, or mental health.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, monitor wellbeing, and collaborate with teachers to foster a safe learning environment. Hours are Monday to Friday, with a fixed daytime schedule.

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs?

A Secondary SEMH School in Reading is looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring Psychologists, Therapists, Counsellors or Teachers to gain hands‑on experience in an SEMH setting.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students.
• Support students with emotional regulation, confidence and engagement.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, supportive environment.
• Monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour and progress.
