Supply Desk is seeking a Specialist Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant for a Hythe placement. The role focuses on providing dedicated 1:1 support to students with SEMH and assisting small groups to access lessons and structured activities.

Applicants should have SEMH experience, trauma-informed understanding, and excellent communication with students, staff and parents. An Enhanced DBS check is required and support is available if needed.

Specialist Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant (Full Time and temporary)

Contract:Long-Term (potentially permanent)

Institution: Throughout KS1

Pay:£85-£52 per day

About the Role

We are seeking a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Specialist Teaching Assistant who has experience with those with Autism, SEMH and challenging behaviour to join an Ofsted Rated “Good” school in Hythe. This rewarding role involves supporting students with additional needs both 1:1 or with 2 children maximum, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential.”

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH

Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or other additional needs (school or care setting).
  • Strong understanding of trauma, SEMH and associated learning/behavioural needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
  • Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).
