Job summary

Irwell Valley Housing Association LTD in Manchester area seeks a Self-Management Coach In Reach (MOUP) to support vulnerable adults in a housing context. The role involves coaching, safeguarding, and enablement to help clients achieve independent living and participation in education, training, and community activities.

The post is permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) with a shift pattern across 7:45am–8:10pm. DBS check is required and flexibility for weekend work may be needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of needs of vulnerable adults and complex support needs.
• Experience with safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
• Experience in a supported housing or health and social care setting.
• Strong communication, record-keeping and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.

• Providing personalised support to young adults, including ADHD/ASD and substance misuse needs.
• Managing a caseload based on client needs and service demand.

MOUP Hours: 35 hours per week, with services operating between 7:45am and 8:10pm, Monday to Sunday worked on a shift rota including 2 on 2 off weekends and shifts across the week. Shifts are either 7:45am to 4:45pm (Early), 10:00am to 6:00pm (Flexi) or 11:10am to 8:10pm (Late).

This role will help us achieve our ambition by working as part of a team within supported housing and outreach services in Greater Manchester, providing high-quality, personalised housing-related support and enablement support to adult clients.

We're looking for someone who can help clients live independently in accommodation suited to their needs and successfully maintain their home. You'll support clients to develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to access education, training, employment and meaningful community activities. You'll also help clients achieve financial stability, maintain healthy lifestyles and work towards their individual goals.

In this role, you will be responsible for

• Using coaching and strengths-based approaches to help clients develop emotional resilience, overcome barriers and take greater control of their lives.
• Building positive relationships with clients and supporting them to achieve the outcomes identified within their support plans.
• Liaising with external agencies and professionals and raising safeguarding concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Completing and maintaining Support Plans, Positive Behaviour Plans, Essential Profiles and Risk Assessments.
• Supporting the delivery of high-quality housing management, housing-related support and enablement activities within the service.
• Working as part of a supported housing team to provide personalised support to young adults, including those with ADHD, ASD and substance misuse support needs.
• Managing a caseload of clients, with workloads determined by client needs and service demand.

We need people who have

• Knowledge and understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and individuals with complex support needs.
• Knowledge of issues affecting clients, including behaviour management, mental health, leaving care and neurodiversity.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
• Experience of working within a supported housing environment or relevant health and social care setting.
• Experience of supporting young people and vulnerable adults with complex needs.
• Experience of working with statutory agencies and voluntary sector organisations.
• Strong communication, record-keeping, organisational and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and manage a varied caseload.

It would be advantageous if you have:

• Experience of working within supported housing services.
• Knowledge of legislation and best practice relating to housing support, safeguarding, ADHD, ASD, learning disabilities and substance misuse.
• A qualification in Health and Social Care or a related subject.

Please note that an Enhanced DBS check is required for this role and you must be able to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays where required.
