Job summary

East Staffordshire Borough Council is seeking two enthusiastic Selective Licensing Officers to join our Private Sector Housing team. The roles are temporary until 31 December 2031 and are suitable for Graduate Environmental Health Officers working towards a degree or ELP.

You will carry out property inspections, assess housing conditions using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and take enforcement action where required.

Qualifications

• Experience working within private sector housing enforcement or licensing.
• Ability to assess housing conditions using HHSRS.
• Experience producing formal letters, statutory notices, schedules of work and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections to ensure legal standards are met.
• Tackle unsatisfactory conditions and undertake investigations of housing conditions and management of licensed properties.
• Produce witness statements, case files and attend court/tribunals when necessary.
