Job summary

Bath Spa University is seeking a proactive Security Team Leader to join our Estates & Security team at Bath, Somerset. You will lead Security Officers, manage day-to-day operations, and respond to incidents, ensuring a safe and welcoming campus environment.

You will oversee training, health and safety, and SIA requirements while fostering a positive team culture focused on staff development and wellbeing. This role requires a full UK driving licence and relevant licences.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading teams, managing performance, and developing staff.
• Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent).
• Hold a valid full UK Manual driving licence.
• SIA and CCTV licences or willingness to obtain during probation.
• Strong organizational skills to plan, prioritise and delegate.
• Experience managing incidents involving welfare, vulnerability or safeguarding.
• Live within a reasonable commutable distance to the campus for a 12 hr shift.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support a team of Security Officers, ensuring professionalism, safety and customer service.
• Oversee day-to-day security operations including patrols, building access, alarms and campus safety.
• Take the lead during operational and critical incidents.
• Deliver training and briefings, ensure health and safety and SIA compliance.
• Maintain equipment and foster a positive, inclusive team culture with staff development and wellbeing.
