The Senedd Security Service is committed to safeguarding everyone who visits or works at the Welsh Parliament, ensuring a secure and welcoming environment at all times.
As a Security Team Leader, you will play a vital role in supervising a dedicated team of security officers, maintaining the integrity and safety of the Senedd estate. Your professionalism will be key in delivering an exceptional customer experience, engaging
diplomatically with staff and visitors from diverse backgrounds. Your responsibilities will include managing all access points to the Senedd Estate—conducting searches and screenings of visitors, vehicles, and designated areas to prevent or detect prohibited items. Additionally, you will oversee and participate in special events and operations to ensure the safety of VIP visitors.
You will also be tasked with planning and leading security patrols and operations, continuously monitoring and assessing their effectiveness to uphold the highest standards of security.
You will lead and oversee a team of security officers, providing guidance, support, motivation, and strong leadership to ensure operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive willingness to learn, sound judgment, and exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills. This is a uniformed position, and you will be required to wear body armor as part of your duties.

Pattern of Working
This is a full-time post working a 5 day week of 37 hours between 07:00 to 22:00. The days of work will vary and will include regular weekend and public and privilege holiday duties.
Job Description
Lead and inspire a team of security officers to uphold the highest professional standards, fostering a collaborative, positive, and motivated team culture.
Effectively manage security officers’ performance, conduct, and well-being in accordance with the Commission’s policies, ensuring a high level of professionalism and morale.
Provide strong management resilience by supporting fellow security team leaders and their teams, ensuring seamless delivery of security services across all operations.
Brief, assign, and deploy team members in accordance with Senedd security policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance and keeping the team informed of current security issues, policy updates, and procedural changes through appropriate communication channels.
Gather, evaluate, and disseminate intelligence relevant to maintaining the safety and security of the Senedd, ensuring all information is handled in strict compliance with GDPR regulations.
Develop, oversee and deploy as necessary incident response plans, preparing the team to effectively manage evacuations and respond to fire or civil emergencies, ensuring safety and minimal disruption.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments regularly and collaborate effectively with colleagues to develop and implement strategies that mitigate identified risks.
Maintain transparent and proactive communication with senior management and team members through structured briefings and debriefings as needed to ensure alignment and clarity.
Actively promote and uphold principles of equality and diversity within working practices, serving as a champion for inclusive and respectful environments.
Proactively promote a safe working environment ensuring full compliance with all Health and Safety legislation, fostering a safe and secure workplace.
Gain and maintain confidence in the operation of security systems, including Access Control and CCTV, through appropriate training and ongoing development.
Participate in and facilitate exercises and training sessions designed to evaluate and enhance staff response capabilities to critical incidents.
Support Senedd business by deploying and supervising ushers during plenary sessions and committee meetings to ensure smooth operations.
Be available to provide security services outside the Cardiff Bay estate, including regional committees and other relevant locations as required.
Undertake additional projects and responsibilities that are appropriate to the level of the role, as directed by security management.
Adhere to all reasonable management instructions in line with business priorities and operational needs.
