G-Research in London offers a Security Operations internship for a placement-year Cyber Security student graduating in 2029. You’ll investigate alerts, assist across threat intel, detection engineering, forensics and malware analysis.

You’ll be mentored by experienced engineers, work on Windows/Linux/Kubernetes and cloud environments, and help triage incidents while developing practical skills in a fast-paced, enterprise setting.

• Strong interest in cyber security with solid technical foundation.
• Proactive, methodical approach to problem solving.

The Role

• 12th July 2027 – 14th July 2028
• 09:00 – 17:30 working hours
• Based in Central London

As a Security Operations intern, you'll gain first-hand experience investigating security alerts and incidents. You'll support senior team members across threat intelligence, detection engineering, forensics and malware analysis.

Working alongside experienced security engineers, you'll also be paired with a mentor to support your learning and development throughout the internship.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Acting as the first point of contact for cyber security matters within the business
• Investigating security alerts across a range of systems and platforms, including Windows, Linux, Kubernetes and cloud environments
• Leading the triage and coordination of security incidents raised across the organisation
• Conducting threat hunting across a large, centralised data lake
• Using threat intelligence sources to enhance and tune existing detection capabilities
• Working with our internally developed interface backed by SIEM tools from Azure, Elastic and AWS
