Job summary

Bromford Flagship Livewest is seeking an experienced Security Operations Manager to lead day-to-day security operations, protecting our services, data and people from evolving cyber threats. You will oversee monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management and the performance of security technologies and partners.

Location is negotiable with Norwich, Tewkesbury and Exeter options; this is a permanent, full-time role with agile working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a Security Operations function or cyber security team.
• Hands-on incident investigation and response experience.
• Experience with threat hunting, vulnerability management and monitoring.
• Ability to develop security playbooks, procedures and operational processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working with third‑party SOC/MDR providers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Cyber Security Engineers.
• Oversee security operations including monitoring, detection, investigation and response to threats.
• Own end-to-end management of security incidents with coordination across technical, business and supplier stakeholders.
• Oversee vulnerability management, prioritisation and remediation.
• Manage relationships with external SOC and MDR providers to maximise security effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain security playbooks, procedures, metrics and reporting.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, IT Ops and Security Assurance to embed security into operations.
• Support risk management, policy development and security maturity initiatives.
• Monitor evolving threats and drive improvements to resilience.
• Foster accountability and continuous improvement across technology teams.

Job description

Do you have experience managing a Security Operations, SOC, or Cyber Security team? Have you worked extensively with the Microsoft Security stack, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Sentinel? Do you hold a recognised cyber security qualification such as CISSP (or equivalent)?

Here at Bromford Flagship Livewest we're looking for an experienced Security Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of security operations, ensuring our services, systems, data, and colleagues remain protected from evolving cyber threats.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll oversee security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and the effective performance of security technologies and third-party security partners. You'll lead a team of Cyber Security Engineers while driving continuous improvement across our security operations capability.

What You'll Be Doing

As Security Operations Manager, you will:

• Lead and develop a team of Cyber Security Engineers.
• Manage the organisation's security operations function, ensuring effective monitoring, detection, investigation, and response to security threats.
• Own the end-to-end management of security incidents, coordinating technical, business, and supplier stakeholders during response and recovery activities.
• Oversee vulnerability management processes, ensuring risks are identified, prioritised, and remediated appropriately.
• Manage relationships with external SOC and MDR providers to maximise security effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain security playbooks, operational procedures, metrics, and reporting.
• Work closely with Infrastructure, IT Operations, and Security Assurance teams to embed security best practices into everyday operations.
• Support risk management, compliance, policy development, and security maturity initiatives.
• Monitor the evolving threat landscape and implement improvements to strengthen organisational resilience.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across technology teams.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing a Security Operations function and/or cyber security team.
• Strong hands‑on experience investigating and managing security incidents.
• Demonstrable experience with threat hunting, vulnerability management, and security monitoring.
• Experience developing security playbooks, procedures, and operational processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.
• Experience working with third‑party SOC/MDR providers.

Technical Expertise

Strong experience across the Microsoft Security ecosystem, including:

• Microsoft Sentinel

You will have the technical credibility to support your team, guide investigations, and drive improvements across security operations.

Qualifications

• CISSP or an equivalent recognised cyber security qualification.
