Job summary

United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory (UKNNL) seeks a Security Operations Manager to lead and develop its SecOps capability. You will oversee monitoring, threat detection, and incident response across a regulated environment, ensuring timely containment and clear communication with partners and leadership.

The role demands proven leadership, incident handling under pressure, strong governance, and the ability to translate strategy into daily security actions.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber security operations within regulated environments.
• Proven leadership of security operations teams and/or managed security services (SOC/MSOC).
• Experience managing security incidents and crisis-level response; able to operate under pressure.
• Strong understanding of incident response and digital forensics.
• Strong understanding of threat intelligence and threat hunting.
• Strong understanding of vulnerability management and security controls.
• Experience working with regulators, auditors, and compliance frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational capability.
• Experience managing third-party suppliers and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small SecOps team, providing support, direction, leadership, coaching and mentoring to maximise performance and ensure team wellbeing.
• Own and continuously improve end-to-end security monitoring, detection, and response capability with coordination between internal teams and external providers.
• Lead incident management and crisis-level response, including post-incident learning to strengthen resilience.
• Define and deliver a structured security testing and exercising programme to validate security controls.
• Develop roadmaps aligned to strategic objectives and evolving threats; monitor threat landscape and mitigations.
• Support other cyber and information security sections of TCS as required to manage risk and support business delivery.
