Job summary

Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP is seeking a Security Engineer to protect the organisation’s technology environment through proactive monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and IAM governance. The role interfaces with the external SOC and owns disciplines across vulnerability/compliance and IAM.

You will monitor SIEM tools, lead incident response, manage Defender products, and tune detection policies.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms for alert triage, investigation, and escalation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the SIEM platform and security tooling daily, triaging alerts and investigating anomalies.
• Act as the internal interface to the external SOC, coordinating incident response.
• Lead incident response for confirmed security events and coordinate containment and recovery.
• Own Defender for Endpoint / XDR and Defender for Cloud Apps configurations and tuning.
• Manage SIEM rule sets, add detection use cases, and review coverage.
• Own vulnerability management programme and track remediation to SLA.
• Maintain compliance alignment (Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001) and Purview Compliance.
• Oversee IAM (Entra ID, PIM, access reviews) and JML processes.
