Job summary

Computappoint is recruiting a Security Operations Engineer for a highly regulated client in the UK. This hybrid role requires three days onsite at Bank Station or in Liverpool, with a rate of £350-£400 per day outside IR35 for an initial 6-month contract.

You will lead threat hunting, incident response, and detection engineering across Microsoft and hybrid environments, supporting IAM and DLP initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in a Security Operations (SOC) environment.
• Hands-on experience investigating and responding to security incidents.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR and security monitoring platforms.
• Knowledge of threat hunting methodologies and detection engineering.
• Experience with network security technologies, ideally Zscaler.
• Understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) principles.
• Experience supporting Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls.
• Familiarity with Microsoft security technologies and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to escalated security incidents and events.
• Perform event-based and policy-based threat hunting activities.
• Develop and maintain threat detections within Microsoft Defender XDR.
• Support network security monitoring and detection capabilities using Zscaler.
• Analyse security alerts, identify risks, and coordinate remediation activities.
• Provide technical and operational support for IAM initiatives.
• Support DLP programmes and associated controls.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security and Technology teams to strengthen overall security posture.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of security monitoring, detection and response capabilities.
• Assist with security investigations, reporting and operational security processes.

Salary: £52,000 - 58,500 per year

This is a hybrid role with 3 days onsite at Bank Station or in our Liverpool office, offered at £350-£400 per day outside IR35 for an initial 6-month contract with potential extension. You will help safeguard critical business systems across Microsoft and hybrid environments through proactive threat hunting, incident response, detection engineering, and operational support of core security programmes.
