Job summary

Artificial is seeking a hands-on security operations leader to build our security capability from the ground up. You will design detection and monitoring, decide on in-house versus outsourced work, and establish alert handling and escalation processes.

You’ll direct incident response in close collaboration with our engineering and reliability teams. In this role you’ll work with our SRE team to align tooling and practices, keeping security lean and practical while bringing in specialist support

Qualifications

• Experience building or leading security operations or detection and response.
• Strong grounding in detection and monitoring, including logging and alerting.
• Experience leading incident response with playbooks and exercises.

Responsibilities

• Set up detection and monitoring for security, including tooling, dashboards and log sources.
• Decide how much to run in-house vs outsourced monitoring and own that relationship.
• Set up how security alerts are handled, owned and escalated (starting with working-hours coverage).
• Lead how we respond to security incidents, with playbooks, records and regular practice exercises.
• Collaborate with the reliability team on resilience, backups and disaster-recovery exercises.
• Triage vulnerabilities found in running systems into a shared tracker.
• Run exercises to test and improve defences over time.
