Job summary

Westin Par in the Dover area, Kent, is seeking a Security Officer with variety beyond typical guarding duties. You’ll manage access, greet drivers, handle fuel transactions and support daily operations on a busy transport site.

This permanent, full-time role offers four 12-hour shifts on an eight-day rolling rota, a starting salary around £28,000, benefits including pension, training and long-term security. Immediate start available for locally based candidates.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in security, policing, gatehouse operations, transport or similar responsible role would be advantageous.
• Former Police Officers or those from disciplined, public-facing roles are welcome.
• Confident, friendly communicator who enjoys dealing with people from all walks of life.
• Trustworthy, dependable with strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to handle transactions and paperwork accurately.
• Basic IT skills, including email and general administrative tasks.
• Good level of physical fitness for site patrols and active duties.
• Flexible, practical approach and willingness to take on varied tasks.
• Must live within easy commuting distance of Lydden, near Dover.
• Available for immediate start or short notice.

Responsibilities

• Managing access to and from a busy 7.5-acre site, ensuring safe movement of vehicles, visitors and personnel.
• First point of contact for customers, suppliers and visiting drivers, providing a professional service.
• Monitoring site security and conducting regular patrols to maintain a safe environment.
• Managing fuel transactions and maintaining accurate records.
• Liaising with transport and delivery drivers, handling paperwork and documentation.
• Supporting daily site operations across transport, warehousing and vehicle facility.
• Completing basic administrative duties, including emails, record-keeping and general paperwork.
• Responding calmly and professionally to any issues during a shift.

The Role

Working Hours & Shift Pattern

• Average of four 12-hour shifts over a rolling eight-day period.
• Established shift rota, which may include weekend working.
• Predictable working pattern, with changes generally limited to holiday or sickness cover.
• Additional earning opportunities through Bank Holiday working and cover shifts.

Salary & Benefits

• Competitive starting salary of approximately £28,000 per annum.
