Job summary

OCS is seeking a Security Officer for York Hospital, working 5 on 5 off, days or nights. You will protect people, property and assets while delivering a professional, approachable service to staff and visitors.

You will join a team focused on high standards, proactive security management, and safe site operations, with emphasis on clear communication and customer service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in security roles with a focus on safeguarding people and assets.
• Valid SIA front line DS/SG and CCTV certification desirable.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of buildings, personnel and visitors.
• Be the first point of contact, delivering a friendly and helpful service.
• Monitor fire, security and building management systems and respond to incidents.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and report hazards or defects.
• Control access points and assist with traffic management across the site.
• Carry out regular patrols and ensure procedures are followed.

About The Role

Days of Working: This position will be based at York Hospital, working 5 on 5 off. Days or Nights.

Becoming a Security Officer at OCS offers a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across a busy client site. In this role, you will play a vital part in protecting people, property, and assets, while delivering a professional and approachable service to all employees and visitors.

You will be part of a team that takes pride in high standards, strong customer service, and proactive security management, ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety and security of buildings, personnel, and visitors across the site
• Act as a first point of contact, providing a professional, friendly and helpful service
• Monitor fire, security and building management systems, responding appropriately to incidents
• Support a safe working environment by following Health & Safety policies and reporting hazards, damage, or defects
• Control access points, barriers, and support traffic management across the site
• Carry out regular patrols and ensure security procedures are consistently followed

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
• Valid SIA front line DS/SG & SIA CCTV (CCTV = desirable)
• UK driving licence preferred
• Previous experience in a security role
• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Experience working in a busy or public-facing environment
• Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to duties
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
