Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Security Officer in York for a full-time role with 42 hours per week. You will provide a professional security service, ensure compliance with procedures, monitor CCTV and respond to incidents, while delivering excellent customer service to staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional and effective security service while following all company, client and statutory requirements.
• Deliver high-standard customer service; be the main contact for employees, visitors and contractors.
• Monitor the site and respond promptly to security concerns and emergencies.
• Follow site Assignment Instructions, procedures and KPIs at all times.
• Respond to emergencies (fire alarms, security alerts) and follow procedures.
• Assist visitors and third-party contractors with site access protocols.
• Liaise with emergency services and authorities when required.
• Monitor CCTV, radio and other security systems and escalate issues.
• Maintain accurate security records and incident reports.
• Provide regular updates to site management on operations and incidents.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues and customers.

What you'll do:

• Provide a professional and effective security service, ensuring all company, client and statutory requirements are followed.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service, acting as a professional and approachable point of contact for employees, visitors and contractors.
• Monitor the site and respond promptly to any security concerns, incidents or emergencies.
• Follow site Assignment Instructions, security procedures and agreed KPIs at all times.
• Respond effectively to emergency situations, including fire alarms and security alerts, ensuring the appropriate procedures are followed.
• Assist visitors and third-party contractors, ensuring site access procedures and policies are adhered to.
• Liaise with emergency services and other statutory authorities when required.
• Monitor CCTV, radio and other site security systems, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate security records, including incident reports, occurrence books, health and safety documentation and other required site records.
• Provide regular updates and feedback to the site management team regarding security operations, incidents and areas of concern.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders across the site.
• Maintain high standards of personal presentation and professionalism at all times.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the safe and effective operation of the site.

What you'll bring:

• A valid SIA Frontline Guarding Licence - essential.
• A professional, approachable and customer-focused manner.
• Confidence responding to security incidents and emergency situations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• IT literacy, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• The ability to complete reports and security documentation accurately.
• The ability to work calmly and effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience within security operations would be beneficial.
• A security-related professional qualification would be advantageous.
• Previous experience working within an office or corporate environment would also be desirable.
