Job summary

B&M Retail Limited in Yeovil is seeking a confident Retail Security Officer to safeguard staff, customers and stock while providing a welcoming shopping experience.

You will monitor CCTV, investigate incidents, enforce health and safety procedures and engage with customers to resolve situations calmly and efficiently. This is a full-time, store-based role with daytime, evening and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in security is beneficial but not required.
• Strong ability to follow procedures and stay calm under pressure.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitoring the store to identify, prevent and report incidents.
• Operating and reviewing CCTV systems in line with company policies
• Supporting the enforcement of Health & Safety procedures

Are you a confident and professional Retail Security Officer? Do you enjoy safeguarding people, products, and store environments while delivering a welcoming customer experience?

Join our team in Yeoviland make a real difference!

In this role, you’ll be trusted with responsibility and play a vital role in safeguarding the store. Working closely with the Store Management Team, you’ll help prevent loss, manage risk and maintain high standards of safety and professionalism.

This is a full-time, permanent role with flexibility to work across daytime, evening and weekend shifts - ideal for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and being an integral part of the store team.

What you’ll be doing

• Actively monitoring the store to identify, prevent and report incidents
• Operating and reviewing CCTV systems in line with company policies
• Supporting the enforcement of Health & Safety procedures
• Conducting investigations into stock loss, theft and fraud
• Engaging with customers and colleagues to resolve situations calmly and effectively

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is alert, calm under pressure and confident in their approach, with a strong sense of responsibility and a customer-first mindset. Similar security experience isn’t essential, but the key skills and behaviours required include:

• Ability to follow procedures and remain composed in challenging situations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Confidence handling difficult conversations in a professional manner
• Sound judgement, honesty, integrity and a strong work ethic
• A supportive team player who takes pride in doing the right thing
