Job summary

Marks & Spencer in Sheffield is seeking a Security Officer to help create a safe, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues. You’ll be a visible, calm presence, prevent loss, respond to incidents and support store operations using body-worn cameras and mobile reporting tools.

This role requires a confident, customer‑focused approach, strong communication, and the ability to stay composed under pressure.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience is preferred.
• A valid SIA licence is desirable, although not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, confident and professional approach.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
• A genuine passion for customer service and keeping people safe.
• All candidates must be able to provide a 5-year checkable work history within the UK.

Responsibilities

Guaranteed 40+ hours per week (4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts)

Join M&S as a Security Officer, where you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and secure environment for our customers and colleagues.

We're looking for confident, customer-focused individuals who can combine strong awareness with a warm and approachable attitude. You'll be a visible presence in store, helping customers feel supported while playing an important role in keeping the business safe and secure.

• Being digitally confident is essential. You'll use store technology, including mobile reporting systems and body-worn cameras, to support store operations and incident management.
• You’ll stay calm under pressure. Whether responding to challenging situations or supporting emergency procedures, you’ll always act professionally and confidently.
