Job summary

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Dorchester is seeking Security Officers to join our 24/7 Security Service, safeguarding patients, visitors and staff across the campus. We offer set shifts with both full-time and part-time vacancies, and provide comprehensive training in security within a health care setting.

As part of the Facilities team, you will monitor CCTV, perform patrols, respond to disturbances, and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Background in Security desirable but not essential; full training in security within a health care setting will be given.

Responsibilities

• Provide a security presence throughout all areas of the hospital to deliver a polite, efficient, and compassionate service to patients, visitors and staff
• Provide a first line quick and immediate response to distressed, violent and aggressive persons within the hospital, calming individuals where necessary and escorting them from site to maintain a safe environment
• Operate CCTV in accordance with Data Protection Act 2018 and Trust licence for detection and prevention of crime where required
• Undertake checks on every shift to ensure CCTV equipment is fully operational and report faults to Facilities
• Undertake physical patrols of the hospital site and check closure of departments
• Undertake external patrols to car parking areas and outlying buildings to ensure presence is noticeable

The Facilities department at Dorset County Hospital are excited to announce that we are looking for Security Officers to join our team providing a 24/7 Security Service throughout the hospital.

A background in Security is desirable but not essential as full training in security within a health care setting will be given.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a security presence throughout all areas of the hospital in order to deliver a polite, efficient, and compassionate service to patients, visitors and staff at all times
• Provide a first line quick and immediate response to distressed, violent and aggressive persons (including mental health patients) within the hospital, calming individuals using verbal and non verbal communication skills, where necessary physically restraining and escorting persons from site in order to maintain a safe environment within the hospital
• Appropriately operate CCTV in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Trust license for the detection and prevention of crime where required.
• To undertake checks on every shift to ensure that all CCTV equipment is fully operational and that any faults are reported immediately to the Facilities department by email or phone.
• Undertake physical patrols of the hospital site in line with schedule and in order to provide a security presence and maintain a secure environment including checking closure departments.
• Undertake external patrols to all areas of the Hospital site including car parking areas and outlying buildings ensuring that your presence is noticeable.
