Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is seeking several Security Officers (Band 3) to help safeguard staff, patients and visitors across hospital premises. The role features 4 on, 4 off, 12-hour shifts, with nights or days, and involves patrolling, CCTV monitoring, access control and rapid response to alarms or incidents.
You will work within a proactive security team, using strong communication and de‑escalation skills to maintain a safe environment in a busy healthcare setting.

We require several Security Officers (Band 3) to assist in the maintenance of Security to protect people and property, deter and detect crime and provide a reassuring presence to our staff, patients and visitors. (Please note that you can be deployed on any premises of Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospital NHS Trust if you are required to do so).
You must be of smart appearance and be able to work as part of a very active team; you will need to cope calmly and effectively with both routine and emergency situations. We are looking for compassionate, professional and courteous individuals. The shift pattern is 4 x 12-hour shifts, working 4 on then 4 off, covering weekends and Public Holidays as they fall.
This role involves a wide variety of duties, and you will need to deal with difficult situations and be sensitive when dealing with upset and anxious patients and visitors. You will need to use diplomacy skills to diffuse and de-escalate aggressive behaviour and be able to physically assist in restraining violent individuals who may be patients or visitors. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will need to be IT literate
Previous security experience in a large and diverse organisation is advantageous, as is possessing an SIA Door Supervisor license and an SIA CCTV license.
A full driving licence is essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
You will be required to file reports and undertake a range of tasks using computer software. The successful candidate must complete the required training.
