Security Manager Role

The Security Manager is responsible for maintaining physical and classified material security. Reporting to the Head of IT, Security & Facilities, this role involves safeguarding physical security of assets and supporting broader IT, Personnel, and Project Security functions.

Core Responsibilities

1. Complete documentation to maintain Facilities Security Certificate (FSC) and Industrial Personal Security Assurance (IPSA).
2. Develop company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with HMG and corporate security standards, covering:

• Management of physical security systems (AACS, IDS, CCTV, Locks)
• Onboarding and offboarding users (creating access cards & IDs, training)
• Organizing maintenance and audits of security systems
• Managing keys for security equipment
• Updating Guarding Instructions

Support Personal Security Officer in completing National Security Vetting & Aftercare, including:

• Developing processes and evidence for IPSA accreditation
• Creating & issuing or receiving Confirmation of Clearances (UK & Overseas)

Develop and present security awareness materials, collaborating with IT Security Team and utilizing NPSA, IPSA, & ADS materials. Create and execute communication plans.

Develop and deploy Traveller Security materials, including:

• Assembling traveller security packs with FCDO & iSOS destination-specific info + NPSA advice
• Briefing staff travelling abroad
• Issuing Casual Courier Certificates

Manage HMG classified material, including:

• Preparing courier/transfer documentation
• Muster of material
• Organizing destruction
• Reporting security incidents

Manage CRYPTO material, including:

• Serving as CRYPTO Custodian Alt
• Preparing courier/transfer documentation
• Muster of material
• Organizing destruction

Oversee small explosives store operations, including check-in/out processes, muster, and license applications.

Support Project Security activities, such as:

• Organizing Security Aspects Letters
• Staff approval, briefing, and access management
• Managing space licenses (CAA)
• Providing security advice to project teams and manufacturers

The role may require being on-call for security issues outside normal hours and may include first-aid and fire marshal responsibilities.

Person Specification

Experience

Experience in managing high-security facilities, projects, or products is preferred, especially in high-tech environments.

The role is primarily on-site with flexible hours to accommodate childcare or caring responsibilities. Limited UK & international travel and on-call support may be required.

Qualifications

Qualifications in Security or progression in MoD / DISA / NPSA training paths are preferred; training will be provided. Must be a UK citizen, capable of attaining and holding DV-level National Security Vetting and an explosives license.
