Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking a dedicated Security Manager to lead the security function across the campus, ensuring the safety of staff, students and visitors while safeguarding assets.

You will develop the College's ID policy, oversee emergency planning, and work with Student Services and leadership to promote safeguarding, wellbeing and the Prevent Duty across the estate.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement security measures and emergency preparedness plans to minimise risk.
• Manage car park operations including equipment maintenance, payment processes and monitoring compliance.
• Collaborate with internal partners on safeguarding, wellbeing and Prevent Duty.

You will play a key role in maintaing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all staff memebers and learners.

About this role:

• Lead, manage and develop the College’s security teams to ensure the safety and security of staff, students, visitors, and assets at all times.
• Ensure effective implementation and ongoing development of the College ID policy, promoting full compliance among all stakeholders. Along with promoting and encouraging the colleges professional standards and expectations
• Plan, develop, and implement security measures and emergency preparedness plans to minimise risk and respond effectively to incidents.
• Manage car park operations including equipment maintenance, payment processes, and monitoring compliance for staff and students.
• Provide specialist advice to management on security considerations relating to estates planning, car parking operations, and campus development.
• Workcollaboratively with internal partners— Student Services, Safeguarding Officers, curriculum teams, and senior leaders—particularly in relation to safeguarding, wellbeing, and the Prevent Duty.

Essential Experience:

• Management Experience in Security Management Role
• Experience in Emergency planning
• Safeguarding experience

Essential Qualifications:

• SIA accredited or similar industry standard
• Rcenet industry relevant training including: Conflict Resolution, Difficult Conversation Training, De-escalation tactics
