Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Limited is seeking a Security Officer for a Northamptonshire college. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, secure campus with a visible presence, CCTV monitoring and prompt incident response.

The successful candidate will hold valid SIA licences (Door Supervision or Security Guarding, CCTV preferred), have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently. A driving licence is desirable.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid SIA Door Supervision Licence or Security Guarding Licence.
• Ideally hold an SIA CCTV Licence (training available).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and good judgement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly visible security presence across the campus.
• Monitor CCTV and respond to incidents promptly and appropriately.
• Undertake regular patrols of buildings, grounds and residential areas.
• Provide support to students, staff and visitors.
• Work with Student Welfare to promote safety and wellbeing.
• Support students living in campus accommodation.
• Be approachable during key times of day and student arrivals/departures.
• Respond to security incidents, emergencies and welfare concerns.

Are you a professional, approachable and proactive Security Officer looking to make a positive impact within a thriving college environment?

We are seeking a dedicated Security Officer to join our team and play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming campus for students, staff and visitors.

Working as part of our established security provision, you will maintain a visible and reassuring presence across the College site. Our daytime security team consists of multiple officers who support the needs of a busy and highly populated campus, while our overnight provision is supported by a dedicated single postholder.

The Role

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining a highly visible security presence across the campus.
• Monitoring the College's CCTV network and responding promptly and appropriately to incidents.
• Undertaking regular patrols of buildings, grounds and residential areas.
• Providing support and assistance to students, staff and visitors.
• Working closely with the Student Welfare team to promote the safety and wellbeing of all students.
• Supporting the welfare of students living on campus accommodation.
• Remaining approachable and accessible during key periods of the day, including break times and student arrivals and departures.
• Responding effectively to security incidents, emergencies and welfare concerns.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is committed to providing a safe and secure environment and who can build positive relationships across the College community.

You will have:

• A valid SIA Door Supervision Licence or SIA Security Guarding Licence.
• Ideally, a valid SIA CCTV Licence (training can be provided if required).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgement.
• The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
• A proactive approach and a commitment to maintaining high standards of security.
• The confidence to interact professionally with students, staff, visitors and external partners.
• The ability to drive and ideally hold a clean driving licence to enable effective site coverage.
