Apollo Research is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Infra & Security Team in London or San Francisco. You will design, implement, and deploy security controls, making the secure path the default.

The role requires hands-on security work, threat modeling, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to protect sensitive data and systems. Join a fast-moving organization that tests frontier AI models and builds Watcher security tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in security roles with hands-on technical work.
• Engineering mindset with automation and systems-thinking.
• Direct experience with application security, cloud security, or product security.
• Ability to influence security practices without formal authority.
• Thrives in a fast-moving startup environment with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Apollo’s core security controls: identity and access management, infrastructure and cloud security, endpoint management, and incident response.
• Build paved roads that make the secure path the default, easy path.
• Advocate for security practices across Apollo and communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders.
• Evaluate vendors and tooling, perform build-vs-buy assessments.
• Lead major security projects end to end, from ideation to rollout.
• Collaboratively define and shape the security roadmap and priorities.
