The Amazon Web Services Security Operations Center (AWS-SOC) Team manages security issues globally. We are seeking a highly motivated, technically inclined Security Engineer to join us. The ideal candidate will embody our 16 leadership principles, especially 'Learn and Be Curious', 'Earn Trust', and 'Dive Deep'. This role is based at the LHR14 London SOC location and requires comfort working in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Monitor and analyze security alerts from various sources to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
  2. Develop, implement, and fine-tune detection rules and correlation logic to enhance threat detection capabilities.
  3. Conduct in-depth investigations of security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and coordinate incident response activities.
  4. Maintain and optimize security information and event management systems and other security tools used in the SOC.
  5. Collaborate with other teams to improve threat intelligence, incident response procedures, and security posture reporting.
A day in the life

As a Security Engineer in Detections, your day involves safeguarding digital assets by supporting security engineering, operations, and incident response activities. You will coordinate security response activities, refine detection rules, investigate incidents, collaborate with threat intelligence teams, and develop detection algorithms.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP
  • Experience programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar object-oriented languages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with AWS products and services
  • Experience with threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
