Job summary

HSB Technical Ltd is seeking a Security Small Works & Service Engineer to perform on-site installations, upgrades, fault rectification, commissioning and servicing of fire and security systems across commercial and residential sites.

The role involves small works projects, fault diagnosis, and ensuring systems meet industry standards, with opportunities for training, development and on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in fire and security small works, installation, commissioning and servicing.
• Fault-finding and diagnostic skills with on-site problem solving.
• Knowledge of current fire and security regulations and standards.
• Full UK Driving Licence and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, upgrade and commission CCTV, intruder, access control and fire alarm systems.
• Carry out small works projects and system additions across customer sites.
• Diagnose faults and rectify issues on a range of fire and security systems.
• Test and commission to ensure full operational functionality.
• Complete documentation accurately and promptly.
• Ensure compliance with BS5839, BS7671, NSI/SSAIB and company procedures.
• Liaise with customers, contractors and internal teams professionally.
• Maintain company vehicle, tools and equipment to a high standard.
• Participate in an on-call rota as required.

Typically, this person will be responsible for carrying out small works installations, upgrades, additions, fault rectification, commissioning, and servicing of fire and security systems across commercial and residential sites, ensuring all work is completed to industry standards and customer requirements.

Duties and responsibilities of the Security Small Works & Service Engineer will be:

Qualifications and requirements for the Security Small Works & Service Engineer:

• Proven experience within fire and security small works, installation, commissioning, and servicing.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good knowledge of current fire and security industry regulations and standards.
• Experience working with systems such as Advanced, Kentec, C-Tec, CEM, PAC, Avigilon, Hikvision, Dahua, Paxton, Texecom, Galaxy, and Pyronix is advantageous.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Right to work within the UK.
