Job summary

SiXworks in the United Kingdom is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build applications addressing real-world, in-field challenges. You will contribute across the full software pipeline—from presenting ideas to customers, writing code, and deploying onto customer systems.

The role emphasizes reliability, security, and rapid innovation in defence and national security contexts. The team is collaborative and supports growth, with opportunities to work on Android Kotlin front-end work, Rust

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in Android Kotlin front-end development.
• Happy to develop PoC applications where requirements may change rapidly and rework is common.
• Strong proficiency in Git for version control and collaborative development.
• Familiarity with backend development languages such as Rust, or Go.
• Solid understanding of software development principles (MVVM, UDF), Web APIs, standards (e.g. OpenAPI), and data structures.
• Knowledge of DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build applications addressing real in-field challenges.
• Be central in the whole software pipeline—from presenting ideas to the customer, to writing code, to deploying onto customer systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
