Job summary

LHH is recruiting a Facility Security Officer / Security Controller to oversee security across two UK defence facilities in Gloucester and Manchester. You will protect people, information and assets, provide practical security guidance and ensure site arrangements meet MOD, customer and contractual requirements.

This role suits an experienced security professional capable of daily operations, working with programme teams and confidently handling security incidents.

Qualifications

• Active DV or Active eDV clearance required.
• Experience as Facility Security Officer, Security Controller or similar.
• Knowledge of MOD and customer security requirements in UK defence.
• Ability to manage security incidents and advise on controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee protective security across two facilities, point of contact for security matters.
• Supervise site security team and manage site access and access control.
• Maintain accreditations, procedures, risk registers and critical assets registers.
• Respond to and investigate incidents, record findings and escalate as needed.
• Collaborate with project teams to implement customer security requirements.
• Coordinate Security Aspects Letters with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Advise management on contractual security controls and legislative requirements.
• Prepare and communicate Company Security Instructions.
• Coordinate security for contracts, building changes and classified assets.
• Deliver security training and awareness for employees.
• Oversee security for overseas travel, visits, events; audit data protection.
• Maintain relationships with emergency services and security authorities.
• Manage cryptographic material as Crypto Custodian where applicable.

Facility Security Officer / Security Controller

Contract: Immediate requirement

Security clearance: Active DV or Active eDV required

We are recruiting a Facility Security Officer / Security Controller to oversee security across two UK defence facilities in Gloucester and Manchester.

You will take responsibility for protecting people, information and assets, providing practical security advice and ensuring that site arrangements meet Ministry of Defence, customer and contractual requirements.

This opportunity would suit an experienced security professional who can manage day-to-day operations, work closely with programme teams and respond confidently to security incidents.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing protective security across both facilities, acting as the initial point of contact for security matters.
• Supervising the contracted site security team and overseeing site access and access control.
• Maintaining site accreditations, security procedures, the security risk register and critical assets register.
• Responding to and investigating security incidents, recording findings and escalating concerns to the appropriate authorities.
• Working with project and programme teams to understand and implement customer security requirements.
• Managing Security Aspects Letters and ensuring requirements are passed to suppliers and subcontractors.
• Advising management on contractual security controls and relevant legislative requirements.
• Preparing, maintaining and communicating Company Security Instructions.
• Coordinating security arrangements for new contracts and building alterations involving classified assets.
• Delivering security education, awareness training and briefings for employees.
• Overseeing security arrangements for overseas travel, international visits and on-site and off-site events.
• Auditing security systems and data protection compliance.
• Maintaining relationships with emergency services, law enforcement and relevant security authorities.
• Managing cryptographic material as Crypto Custodian, where applicable.

Experience and qualification

We are looking for someone with:

• Active DV or Active eDV clearance.
• Experience as a Facility Security Officer, Security Controller or in a comparable protective security role.
• In-depth knowledge of MOD and customer security requirements within UK defence.
• Completion of the NPSA Security Controllers Course.
• Completion of the NPSA Security Vetting Course.
• Relevant authority Crypto Custodian training.
• A strong understanding of security systems and their practical application.
• Experience managing security incidents, assessing risks and implementing appropriate controls.
• The ability to build effective relationships with employees, senior management, customers and external authorities.
• A proactive approach to identifying emerging security risks and maintaining effective security arrangements.
