Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates is seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer | VDI Engineer for an initial 12 assignments with the option to extend. Location: East Kilbride (Glasgow) | Hybrid 60% onsite.

An active security clearance and a strong background in Platforms Engineering in a high-threat government environment are essential. The role requires hands-on expertise in VMware Horizon, UAG, App Volumes, DEM, Instant Clones, vSphere/ESXi, AD/PKI, PowerShell automation, and ITSM tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting complex platform issues at 3rd/4th line support.
• Design, implement, support and troubleshoot VMware Horizon environments.
• Knowledge of VMware Horizon, UAG, App Volumes, DEM, Instant Clones, VMware vSphere/ESXi and VDI management.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, Certificate Services and authentication technologies.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation proficiency.
• Experience with virtualization tech: vCenter, clusters, distributed switching, storage integration.
• Strong end-user computing knowledge: profile management, app virtualization, desktop lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with Agile/DevOps or product-focused delivery teams.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and ITSM tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Hybrid on-premises and cloud-hosted environments experience.
