Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Project Director – Civil Engineering to lead a major defence infrastructure package from mobilisation to handover. Based in Raynesway, Derby, the role requires SC clearance and extensive senior delivery experience across civil engineering, with responsibility for budget, schedule and risk management.

You will drive collaboration across design partners and suppliers, ensure buildability and programme certainty, and maintain a strong focus on health, safety and quality

Qualifications

• Senior delivery track record on large civil engineering or infrastructure programmes.
• Experience leading integrated teams of contractors, designers and partners.
• Ability to manage design-construction interfaces on complex programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of major civil infrastructure packages from mobilisation through handover.
• Provide senior leadership across delivery organisations and external partners.
• Coordinate design, engineering and construction for buildability and programme alignment.
• Develop and implement delivery strategy with clear milestones and KPIs.
• Own budget, cost control and financial performance within delegated authority.
• Drive risk, change and opportunity management across the project lifecycle.
• Oversee procurement, subcontractor performance and supply-chain interfaces.
• Maintain health, safety, environment and Zero Harm focus across teams.
