Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build and evolve security tools and AI‑driven agents that improve detection, response, vulnerability management, and the security posture of our products and infrastructure.

You will design, implement, and operate production services, CLIs, and integrations with logging pipelines, SIEMs, EDRs, and cloud APIs, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ship secure, high‑impact improvements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building security tools or engineering security roles.
• Proficiency in Python/Go/TypeScript and production services.
• Experience with logging pipelines, SIEMs, EDR, or cloud APIs.
• Threat modeling or secure design experience.
• Bug bounty or vulnerability management participation is a plus.
• Familiarity with AWS and modern SaaS environments.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and own end-to-end projects.
• Bonus: AI-powered security agents or automation design.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software and automation for detection and response.
• Develop AI agents and security bots for monitoring, investigations, reporting.
• Support bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure workflows.
• Threat model new features and add mitigations.
• Contribute to secure-by-default libraries and services.
• Integrate security signals from cloud, endpoints, SaaS into pipelines.
• Build automation to reduce manual incident response work.
• Review designs and code with security and software engineers.
