Job description

The Government Property Agency is the largest property holder in government, with more than £2.1 billion in property assets and over 55% of the government’s office estate.

We are transforming the way the Civil Service works by creating great places to work, leading the largest commercial office programme in the UK, working towards halving carbon emissions from government offices, and achieving greater value for taxpayers. We are looking for innovative, solutions-focused people to join our team.

Representing the best covenant in the UK – His Majesty’s Government – we are leading transformational programmes such as the Government Hubs Programme, Whitehall Campus Programme, and Net Zero Programme, as well as delivering modern, cost-effective real estate service solutions.

Innovation and progress are at the heart of our behaviours. We foster a culture of lifelong learning, where curiosity and self-improvement are encouraged. We’re dedicated to becoming a leading, inclusive employer both externally and within the Civil Service. Our strong emphasis on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) aims to ensure our services meet the needs of government departments and civil servants.

Join our dynamic and diverse team that leads with purpose, improving sustainability, nurturing social value, driving inclusivity and flexibility, and kickstarting economic growth. We are driven by purpose, and you can be part of it: where you make a meaningful impact; where you influence; where your voice matters; where you help shape our future.

The GPA is committed to representing the communities we serve by making Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion integral to our work. We particularly invite applications from candidates who are disabled, ethnically or gender diverse, and from the LGBTQ+ community.

The GovPass Programme within the GPA is modernising Access Control Systems across HMG, delivering a new UK government standard for card encryption to improve building security and enable greater interoperability through innovative technology.

GovPass operates across the UK in HMG estate and iconic buildings, with plans to expand further.

Security Analyst Role:

The Security Analyst is a critical role within the GovPass Product Team. You will be responsible for designing and developing security for the GovPass Service and Products, maintaining security documentation, and developing security approaches for new technologies. You will support the Product Manager by providing technical solutions and advice to ensure the product remains secure and aligned with business objectives.

This role also involves shaping and influencing cross-directorate product management practices and strategies as part of the wider GPA agenda. As the GovPass product stabilizes or government needs evolve, there is scope to take on additional responsibilities related to other products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recommend security controls and identify solutions supporting business objectives.
  2. Provide specialist advice and recommend approaches across teams and stakeholders.
  3. Communicate widely with stakeholders, agencies, and Technical Authorities.
  4. Advise on security technologies and assess risks associated with proposed changes.
  5. Inspire and influence others to adhere to security principles.
  6. Review colleagues’ work for security compliance.
  7. Recommend security risk assessment approaches and mitigation strategies.
  8. Identify improvements within existing security frameworks and suggest enhancements.
