Job summary

TRIbuild Solutions is seeking a freelance Section Engineer or Senior Engineer for a civils package on a water treatment site in Selborne, Hampshire. The role focuses on trenching and small RC structures, with a lead technical position over a section of the site team.

The contract runs until April 2027 (6 months) with possible extension for a candidate with strong civils experience seeking a long-term freelance arrangement. IR35 determination TBD, day rate £400–£480.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Section Engineer or Senior Engineer on civils/utilities schemes.
• Strong knowledge of trenching, drainage and small RC structures.
• Ability to manage and support junior engineering staff.
• Valid CSCS card is required.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the technical delivery of a defined section including trenching and RC structures.
• Supervise and mentor Site Engineers within the section.
• Review and approve setting-out, quality checks and as-built records.
• Coordinate with the wider project team on programme, resources and technical queries.
• Ensure compliance with design specs, quality standards and health & safety.

Job Description:

The works are predominantly trenching and small reinforced concrete (RC) structures, and the successful candidate will take a lead technical role overseeing a section of the site team.

This is a freelance position running until April 2027, suited to a candidate with strong civils engineering experience looking for a long-term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing the technical delivery of a defined section, covering trenching and RC structures
• Supervising and mentoring Site Engineers within the section
• Reviewing and approving setting-out, quality checks, and as-built records
• Coordinating with the wider project team on programme, resources, and technical queries
• Ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and health & safety requirements
