Job summary

Protektor Group UK Limited is seeking a Production Operator to operate cold forming lines and process coiled metal into plastering bead and drywall stud products. You will read technical drawings, pack products to specification, and maintain high quality while meeting output targets.

This role involves lifting up to 25 kg, handling lengths up to 3 m, and working in a two-person line for heavier items. Health and safety are prioritized, with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow all Health and Safety rules as laid down by Protektor Group UK Limited.
• Ensure that all safety pre checks are completed before operating equipment.
• Notify the Production Supervisor immediately of any defects found.
• Processing of differing types of coiled strip metal through cold forming lines.
• Packing of product – lifting up to 25kg and lengths up to 3m, single person lift.
• Working as part of a team – two-person line operation for longer heavier product.

Job description

Job Purpose

To operate cold forming lines to produce formed metal products for use in the construction industry. The use of power presses, rolling mills and guillotine equipment to form coiled metal strip into plastering bead and drywall stud and track products. The role requires the ability to read technical drawings and work to high standards of quality whilst maintaining a productive output to meet set targets. Health and safety are of high priority due to the operation of equipment. The role also requires packing of product to correct packing specifications for each product. Working both as a team and as a single person operation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow all Health and Safety rules as laid down by Protektor Group UK Limited.
• Ensure that all safety pre checks are completed before operating equipment.
• Use STOP WORK AUTHORITY for any unsafe conditions and report these to your supervisor.
• To ensure all paperwork is filled in correctly and up to date.
• Follow all procedures relating to quality checks relating to the individual product.
• Notify the Production Supervisor immediately of any defects found.
• Processing of differing types of coiled strip metal through cold forming lines
• Packing of product – this will mean lifting product at waist height, bending to pack material. (Weights up to 25kg and lengths of up to 3 metre single person lift).
• Working as part of a team – two-person line operation for longer heavier product.
• Perform other duties as required by the Production Supervisor.

• OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) >55%

Working Conditions

• This is an indoor role working in a roll forming line production facility.
• High noise (85dB+) from power presses operation.
• Long periods of limited motion when operating lines.
• Lifting product at waist height, bending to pack material.
• Weights up to 25kg and lengths of up to 5 metres single person lift.
• High levels of oil and lubricant can be present on roll forming lines and product carries residue of lubricant when being handled.
• The role is a physical role, lifting and carrying products is 80% of the role.
• Normal day shift hours, no unsociable hours required, there may be overtime requirements as and when business needs.
