Job summary

Morson Edge requires a Section Engineer to develop design, method, programme and cost for HS2 works at Green Park Way Vent Shaft. You will manage resources, supervise site teams, and ensure activities align with contract, programme and budget while adhering to health & safety, QA and client requirements.

The role involves liaising with HS2, subcontractors, and stakeholders, maintaining documentation, and driving safe delivery on a major urban construction project.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering with vocational training.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing and best practice.
• Knowledge and understanding of working to and implementing construction contracts.
• Ability to use initiative based on engineering and practical experience.
• Independent and proactive work style with ability to collaborate within an integrated team.
• Computer competence: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt style to the receiver.
• CSCS Card.
• Health & Safety and Environmental management training.

Responsibilities

• Develop the design, construction methodology, programme and cost. Prepare for the delivery of the works, including resources, procurement, consents, and pre start documentation.
• Manage, supervise, train and mentor the site team to enable them to optimise their work contribution.
• Review contracts; develop site programmes; forecast budgets; monitor productivity; report changes weekly.
• Be conversant with subcontractor contracts and manage subcontractor accounts with QS team.
• Requisition resources to ensure correct specification and availability to avoid delays.
• Record non-conformances and communicate instructions to QA/QS; maintain resource records.
• Maintain daily site diary with changes, attendance, and discussions with Client / Designer / RE / Project Team.
• Ensure ITPs, risk assessments and method statements are implemented and followed.
• Follow Health & Safety and Environmental policies; implement Safety Management System requirements.
• Distribute policy docs to teams and suppliers; keep relevant stakeholders informed.
• Liaise internally with Construction Manager, Design/Engineering, QA and Cost Control.
• Liaise externally with HS2, subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Understand client and JV sustainability policies and ensure implementation on the project.
