Job summary

Atheray Stone are looking for a Section Engineer to join a leading £1b Energy and Infrastructure Upgrade project based in North West London. The role focuses on safety, technical oversight, and ensuring alignment with design and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities include managing safe systems of work, coordinating with client and supply chain, and supervising site engineers to deliver on programme milestones. Degree-qualified engineers with Tier 1 contractor experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in large engineering projects.
• Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
• Understanding of the commercial issues in undertaking a large-scale construction project.
• In depth technical knowledge of area of responsibility and good knowledge of remainder of project.
• Working knowledge of subcontractor scopes of work.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the work under their control to ensure that unsafe conditions and non-compliance are remedied.
• Maintain good relations with client, designer and supply chain.
• Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
• Identify required materials and procure them to support the programme.
• Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
• Ensure permits, inductions, task briefs and other documentation are in place before work commences.
• Ensure drawings and specifications contain sufficient information for construction and request missing information in time.
• Oversee selection and requisition of materials and plant for construction.
• Maintain the project specification knowledge to ensure compliance with design.
• Develop and verify temporary works solutions and ensure they are used as designed.
