Job summary

Danny Sullivan Group is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to lead sections of a major infrastructure programme at Heathrow Airport. The role focuses on airside roads, pavements and associated civil engineering works within a live operational airport setting.

You will coordinate Site Engineers, subcontractors and site teams, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to design standards. Heathrow experience is advantageous but strong highways and heavy civil background will also be

Qualifications

• Experience as Section Engineer, Senior Site Engineer or similar.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• Strong setting-out and site-engineering experience.
• Good understanding of drawings, specs and construction methodology.
• Experience coordinating Site Engineers.
• Knowledge of ITPs, quality documentation and records.
• Understanding of temporary works and construction sequencing.
• Strong health & safety awareness.
• CSCS qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.

• Manage and support Site Engineers and engineering teams.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and engineering control.
• Ensure works align with drawings, specs and approved designs.
• Review drawings for constructability and issues.
• Coordinate subcontractors and site delivery teams.
• Prepare and review RAMS, ITPs, permits and engineering documentation.
• Maintain quality inspections, records and handover docs.
• Maintain engineering records and temporary works coordination.
• Monitor progress against look-ahead plans.
• Assist Sub Agent and Site Agent with sequencing.

The Role

Danny Sullivan Group is recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to work on a major infrastructure programme at Heathrow Airport.

The role will involve taking engineering responsibility for sections of work across airside roads, pavements and associated civil engineering infrastructure within a live operational airport environment.

You will work closely with the Sub Agent and Site Agent, coordinating Site Engineers, subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with the programme, design and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Take engineering responsibility for allocated sections of the project.
• Coordinate the delivery of airside roads, pavements and associated civil engineering works.
• Manage and support Site Engineers and engineering teams.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and engineering control.
• Ensure works are constructed in accordance with drawings, specifications and approved designs.
• Review drawings and identify technical or constructability issues.
• Coordinate subcontractors and site delivery teams.
• Prepare and review RAMS, ITPs, permits and engineering documentation.
• Manage quality inspections, records and handover documentation.
• Ensure appropriate engineering and quality records are maintained.
• Coordinate temporary works requirements where applicable.
• Monitor progress against short-term programmes and look-ahead plans.
• Assist the Sub Agent and Site Agent with planning and sequencing works.
• Liaise with design, planning, commercial, HSEQ and construction teams.
• Ensure works comply with project health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Identify engineering issues and support their timely resolution.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for experienced civil engineering professionals with a strong site-delivery background.

Relevant project experience could include:

• Airport / aviation infrastructure
• Airside roads and pavements
• Highways and major road schemes
• Heavy civils
• Concrete and pavement works
• Drainage
• Earthworks
• Utilities
• Major infrastructure projects

Previous Heathrow, airport or airside experience would be highly advantageous, but candidates with strong highways, roads or comparable heavy civil engineering experience will also be considered.

Candidates should ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Section Engineer, Senior Site Engineer or similar.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Strong setting-out and site-engineering experience.
• Good understanding of drawings, specifications and construction methodology.
• Experience managing or coordinating Site Engineers.
• Knowledge of ITPs, quality documentation and engineering records.
• Understanding of temporary works and construction sequencing.
• Strong health & safety awareness.
• Appropriate CSCS qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.

Experience working within a live, operational or safety-critical environment would be particularly beneficial.
