Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Section Engineer for our rail infrastructure client on a contract basis at multiple locations. You will supervise site engineering activities, support construction operations and assist the Sub Agent with delivery from construction through to close-out.

You will manage junior engineers, oversee setting-out, assist with temporary works, coordinate labour and materials, and ensure subcontractors meet quality and programme requirements.

Qualifications

• HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in construction, civil engineering or a related discipline.
• Working towards professional membership of the ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers).
• Practical knowledge of site engineering activities and construction supervision.
• Experience in ancillary civils is desirable.
• CSCS certification including White, White-Yellow, Red Experienced, Black Manager or Gold Supervisor card.
• Full UK driving licence and access to personal transport for travel to remote sites.

Responsibilities

• Managing junior engineers and supervising the site engineering team.
• Overseeing site setting-out activities and supporting the performance and development of Site Engineers.
• Assisting with temporary works design schemes and resolving technical issues with the Sub Agent.
• Allocating labour, plant and materials in coordination with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman.
• Coordinating subcontractors to meet contract requirements, programme and quality standards.
• Ensuring access to current information, drawings and resources for site teams.
• Assisting with programmes, progress reports, resource plans, cost plans and forecasting.
• Supporting safe and efficient delivery of ancillary civil works.

The role involves supervising site engineering activities, supporting construction operations and assisting the Sub Agent with the delivery of works from construction through to close-out.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing junior engineers and supervising the site engineering team
• Overseeing site setting-out activities and supporting the performance and development of Site Engineers
• Assisting with temporary works design schemes and resolving technical issues in liaison with the Sub Agent
• Working with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials
• Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors to ensure works meet contractual requirements, programme and quality standards
• Ensuring site teams have access to current information, drawings and resources
• Assisting with programmes, progress reports, resource plans, cost plans and financial forecasting
• Supporting the safe and efficient delivery of ancillary civil engineering works

Job Requirements:

• HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in construction, civil engineering or a related discipline
• Working towards professional membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
• Practical knowledge of site engineering activities and construction supervision
• Experience in ancillary civils is desirable

• Strong technical, organisational and problem-solving skills
