Job summary

Matchtech Group seeks a Site Engineer for a contract-based role across multiple locations in the South of the UK. You will support on-site construction operations, lead setting-out activities and supervise junior engineers and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate has a construction or civil engineering qualification (HNC/degree) and is working towards ICE membership, with a valid UK driving licence and CSCS card. Experience in highways or heavy structures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support construction operations on site and supervise engineering activities.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, contributing to their development.
• Coordinate labour, plant and materials with Sub-Agent and foreman.
• Ensure setting-out activities meet standards, programme and budget.
• Resolve technical issues with the senior team on site.
• Supervise subcontractors to meet contractual requirements.
• Ensure access to drawings, information and resources for the team.
• Assist with programmes, progress reports and cost forecasting.

Job description

Our client, a leading organisation within the rail and infrastructure sector, is seeking a Site Engineer for a contract opportunity across mutliple loactions in the South. The role will support construction operations on site, with responsibility for setting-out activities, site supervision and the coordination of junior engineers and subcontractors. Previous experience in highways or structures is essential, with rail sector experience desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting construction operations and supervising site engineering activities
• Leading and supporting junior engineers, contributing to their performance and development
• Liaising with the Sub-Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials
• Working with the setting-out team to ensure activities are delivered to the required standards, programme and budget
• Identifying and resolving technical issues in liaison with the senior team and Sub-Agent
• Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors to ensure works meet contractual requirements
• Ensuring the site team has access to current information, drawings and required resources
• Assisting with programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and financial forecasting

Job Requirements:

• Relevant HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in construction or civil engineering
• Working towards professional institute membership, such as ICE
• Valid CSCS card at White, White-Yellow, Red Experienced, Black Manager or Gold Supervisor level
• Previous experience in highways, heavy structures or a closely related construction environment
• Practical knowledge of site engineering, setting-out and construction supervision
• Strong understanding of construction standards, programmes and contractual requirements
• Ability to identify and resolve technical problems effectively on site
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
