Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Secondary Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 support to children and young people across Poole. You will help learners engaging with education, building confidence and progress in targeted subjects.

Experience in tutoring or teaching, with a focus on secondary-age learners, is ideal. Roles involve working on behalf of Local Authorities with flexible hours and a September start.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles.
  • QTS or PGCE Highly Desirable
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged learners
  • Strong subject knowledge in one or more curriculum areas
  • Ability to deliver engaging and personalised lessons
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and positive approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally around Poole

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised 1:1 support to children and young people across Poole.
  • Support learners who require alternative educational provision and help them progress academically.
  • Build confidence, encourage engagement, and foster positive attitudes to learning.
  • Deliver engaging lessons aligned to curriculum needs across KS3 & KS4.

Secondary Tutor

Support Young People to Re-Engage with Education

We're looking for a Secondary Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 support to children and young people across Poole.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision and benefit from a tailored approach to learning. Many students have experienced barriers to education and need a tutor who can build confidence, encourage engagement, and help them make positive academic progress.

Whether your experience is in core subjects, humanities, sciences, languages, or vocational subjects, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference through one-to-one support.

Location: Poole

Key Stage: Secondary (KS3 & KS4)

Start Date: September

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements
