Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Grays is seeking tutors to provide one-to-one tuition for pupils with SEN/SEMH needs. You will deliver Maths and English sessions, either in the student’s home, at school, in libraries, or online. A minimum 10–15 hours per week and DBS Update Service are required.

The role offers weekly pay, flexible hours, and access to CPD and training to support your development while helping learners regain confidence and achieve their targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN/SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and adapt sessions when students disengage.
  • Confident completing baseline assessments, attendance records and progress reports.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one tuition in Maths and English (or both).
  • Tuition may take place at the student’s home, in schools, libraries, or online.
  • Maintain accurate records and progress reports; liaise with parents, carers and schools.
  • Commit to a minimum of 10–15 hours per week and have flexible availability.

Are you a passionate tutor looking to make a genuine difference to young people who need tailored support?

We are currently recruiting tutors in the Grays area to work with pupils requiring personalised educational provision. Many learners may have SEN, SEMH needs, anxiety around education, or gaps in learning, so we are looking for tutors who are patient, flexible, and engaging. Available to start in the September term.

You will deliver one-to-one tuition in:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Or both subjects

Tuition may take place:

  • In the student’s home
  • Within schools
  • In public settings such as libraries
  • Online
  • Minimum availability of 10–15 hours per week
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional or high-level needs is highly desirable
  • Ability to build positive relationships and adapt sessions when students become disengaged
  • Confidence completing:
    • Baseline assessments
    • Attendance records
    • Detailed progress reports
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with parents, carers, schools, and professionals
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • £25–£30 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
