TipTopJob is hiring a Secondary Teaching Assistant to support pupils with GCSE readiness and pastoral care across Key Stage 3 and 4. The role offers term-time hours and daily pay, with immediate start in a fast-paced secondary network.

You will work across subjects, mentor students, and collaborate with teachers to create a positive learning environment while balancing your own studies or commitments.

Qualifications

• Empathy, subject confidence, and the ability to connect with teenagers are essential.
• Proven or demonstrated experience in schools, tutoring, coaching, or youth volunteering is valued.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
• Commitment to safeguarding and the willingness to obtain/enhance an enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Lead small breakout groups or 1:1 sessions to support literacy, numeracy or subject work.
• Work alongside teachers to manage classroom dynamics and support SEND students.
• Provide pastoral care and help develop students' social skills.
• Act as reader or scribe in mock exams to support exam access arrangements.

Your Role as an Educational Mentor

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you arent just an extra pair of hands; you are a vital link between the student and the curriculum.

• Targeted Interventions: Lead small breakout groups or 1:1 sessions for students who need extra support with literacy, numeracy, or specific subject coursework.
• In:Class Support: Work alongside subject teachers to manage classroom dynamics, ensuring that students with additional needs (SEND) can access the lesson.
• Pastoral Care: Assist with emotional regulation and social skills, helping students navigate the complexities of secondary school life.
• Exam Access Support: Act as a reader or scribe for students during mock exams and assessments to ensure they can demonstrate their full potential.
