Hours: 40 hours per week - standard school hours.
The school supports young people aged 7 - 19 with primary or secondary diagnoses of Autism and related social and communication needs.
YOU:
- An inspirational and engaging Secondary Class Teacher, to deliver high-quality teaching and learning to children and young people with autism and complex needs such as ADHD, OCD, and PDA, who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties.
- Provide high-quality teaching that enables pupils to progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Be creative and hold high expectations. An understanding of ASC is essential to support the planning and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum to help pupils achieve their full potential in all areas.
- Plan and deliver lessons supporting young people in achieving accreditation on various academic pathways. Support students in becoming independent and resilient learners both inside and outside the classroom.
- Supervise and support Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, playing a key role in their Professional Development Reviews.
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- QTS
- Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes
- Thorough knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt it for pupils with SEN
- Experience working with young people with ASD
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- Ability to create and maintain strong, nurturing relationships with young people
- Experience managing approaches to learning, including students with anxiety
- Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners
- A flexible, creative approach with the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs
- Experience managing a small team of teaching assistants
