Job summary

NextGen Teachers is recruiting for a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant in Bradford to support pupils with autism and other needs in a specialist setting. You will work under the SEN team to deliver personalised activities and manage behaviours with care and professionalism.

The role offers full-time hours, a temporary-to-permanent pathway, and start ASAP. A DBS and GCSEs are preferred, with a patient, compassionate approach essential for student development.

Qualifications

• Patient, compassionate and understanding.
• Confident supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• Experienced in managing and supporting challenging behaviour.
• Comfortable working with pupils with autism and communication needs.
• Flexible and willing to support personal care and hydrotherapy.
• A strong team player who can work effectively alongside teachers and SEN professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide bespoke and specialist support tailored to the individual needs of pupils.
• Support students with a range of SEN and complex additional needs.
• Help develop and deliver personalised learning activities based on each pupil's abilities and needs.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support.
• Support pupils who may display challenging behaviours, using appropriate strategies to promote positive outcomes.
• Provide support with personal care where required.
• Be confident and willing to use the school's hydrotherapy pool as part of the pupils' support and learning.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence, independence and development.
