Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a responsive team in Shirebrook. You will work with the class teacher providing tailored support to pupils with complex special educational needs in a secondary setting.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group sessions, support pupils with autism and communication needs, promote positive relationships, and assist with personal care where required.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

Agency: Tradewind Recruitment

Pay: £95-£120 per day, depending on experience and school budget

The Role

As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored support for pupils with complex special educational needs.

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils.
• Supporting young people with a range of needs, including autism, learning difficulties and communication needs.
• Helping deliver engaging, accessible and practical learning activities.
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional and communication development.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships.
• Supporting personal care and hygiene routines where required.
• Helping to create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary or SEN setting.
• Has a patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
• Is confident supporting pupils with additional learning and communication needs.
• Can build positive relationships with young people and colleagues.
• Is resilient, proactive and passionate about making a difference.
• Is happy to support personal care and other individual needs where required.
• Is available to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
• Experience in a specialist SEN school would be particularly beneficial, although candidates with transferable experience supporting young people with additional needs are encouraged to apply.

Pay and Benefits

£95-£120 per day, depending on experience and the school's budget.

Please note: The higher end of the pay scale is reserved for candidates with solid, relevant experience who are available to work full-time. The final rate offered will also be dependent on the school's budget.
