Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a caring, enthusiastic Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school supporting primary pupils with additional needs. You will collaborate with teachers and support staff to tailor support and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The role involves delivering 1:1 and small-group support, assisting with personal care when needed, and contributing to a safe, structured classroom environment.

Pay: £95-£120 per day, depending on experience and school budget

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school supporting primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs.

The Role

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored support for pupils with complex special educational needs.

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils.
• Supporting children with a range of needs, including autism, learning difficulties and communication needs.
• Helping deliver engaging, accessible and practical learning activities.
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional and communication development.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships.
• Supporting personal care and hygiene routines where required.
• Helping to create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary or SEN setting.
• Has a patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
• Is confident supporting pupils with additional learning and communication needs.
• Can build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
• Is resilient, proactive and passionate about making a difference.
• Is happy to support personal care and other individual needs where required.
• Is available to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
• Experience in a specialist SEN school would be particularly beneficial, although candidates with transferable experience supporting children with additional needs are encouraged to apply.

Pay and Benefits

£95-£120 per day, depending on experience and the school's budget.
