Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11-19 with a range of SEND in a specialist secondary school in Sheffield. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist with social, emotional and communication development, and help maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Training will be provided where required, with a supportive SEN consultant from Tradewind.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient when working with pupils with complex needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships and adapt approach to individual pupils.
• Willingness to undertake training for personal care needs if required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

Pay: £95-£120 per day, depending on experience and school budget

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist secondary school in Sheffield, supporting young people aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs. The Role

You will be supporting pupils with a range of complex special educational needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Supporting teaching staff to deliver engaging, accessible learning activities.
• Assisting pupils with their social, emotional and communication development.
• Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate their emotions.
• Providing personal care, including feeding and hygiene support, where required.
• Supporting pupils with moving and handling, following appropriate training and guidance.
• Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Are patient, compassionate and resilient when working with pupils with complex needs.
• Can build positive relationships and adapt their approach to individual pupils.
• Are comfortable supporting personal care needs, or willing to undertake the necessary training.
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Are reliable and available to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
• Experience supporting pupils with autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties, or complex behavioural and communication needs would be particularly beneficial.
• Candidates do not need to have every specialist qualification already in place, as relevant training can be provided where required.
