Job summary

GSL Education in Barnsley is seeking a dependable Cover Supervisor to support pupils and ensure lessons run smoothly. You will supervise classes in teachers' absence, follow pre-planned work and maintain a calm, productive learning environment.

The role starts immediately with either full-time or part-time hours, and requires safeguarding knowledge, a DBS update, and the right to work in the UK. Strong communication and classroom management are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising classes and managing student behaviour.
• Ability to follow prepared lesson plans and support learning objectives.
• Effective communication with teachers, staff and pupils.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teachers' absences and ensure lessons run smoothly.
• Explain tasks clearly and keep students engaged throughout the lesson.
• Maintain a safe, orderly environment and apply school policies on behaviour.
• Take class registers and report concerns to staff as required.
• Provide feedback to teachers on outcomes, behaviour and any issues.
• Support inclusion and positive learning in a secondary school setting.
